Ashara Mubaraka in Mangalore (2026) – Dawoodi Bohra Community 9 Days of Mourning (16 June – 24 June)

The Dawoodi Bohra Muslim community in Mangalore and around the world will observe Ashara Mubaraka, a sacred 9-day mourning period, from 16 June to 24 June 2026.
Ashara Mubaraka commemorates the sacrifice and martyrdom of Imam Hussain (AS) and his companions in Karbala and holds immense spiritual significance for the Dawoodi Bohra Mumineen.
This year, His Holiness Dr. Syedna Mufaddal Saifuddin (TUS), the 53rd al-Dai al-Mutlaq and spiritual leader of the worldwide Dawoodi Bohra community, will lead the central Ashara Mubaraka congregation in London, United Kingdom, where thousands of Dawoodi Bohras from around the world are expected to gather for sermons and spiritual remembrance.
At the same time, Dawoodi Bohra communities across the world, including Mangalore, will organize local Waaz, Majlis, Namaaz, and Niyaz gatherings during these sacred days.
Daily Schedule During Ashara Mubaraka
Every day, from around 10:00 AM onwards, Dawoodi Bohra Mumineen, Muminaat, and Bachao (gents, ladies, and children) gather to attend Waaz and Majlis, which continue until Zohr Namaaz.
Following the afternoon prayers, Niyaz e Imam Hussain (AS) Jaman (Lunch) is served to attendees.
In the evening, after Maghrib and Isha Namaaz, another Majlis gathering takes place, followed by Raat ni Niyaz e Imam Hussain (AS) Jaman (Dinner) for the community members.
Community Participation in Mangalore
Ashara Mubaraka is among the most spiritually significant occasions for the Dawoodi Bohra community. During these days, All businesses temporarily remain closed, students take leave from schools and colleges, and working professionals often apply for leave to fully participate in religious gatherings.
Community members in Mangalore actively participate in prayers, remembrance gatherings, sermons, and community meals during this sacred period.
